Well, October certainly didn’t waste any time getting here, did it? October is one of my family’s favorite months of the year, if for no other reason than birthdays. My darlin’ baby daughter Schuyler just celebrated her birthday on September 29th, and my son Derek, my wife and I all celebrate ours in October – plus, my wife Cindy and I will mark our 43rd wedding anniversary in October. So, it’s an eventful month at our house, to say the least. My wife has always breathed a sigh of relief when all those dates have been observed, but then of course she starts fretting over the holidays. Halloween is a favorite holiday for my “other daughter” – our daughter-in-law Danielle, and I believe my grandson Liam is going to go trick or treating as a Power Ranger this year. And just about the time we eat all the leftover Halloween candy, it’s time to start “Basting The Bird” for Thanksgiving, and before you know it I’ll be untangling the outdoor lights and setting up the Christmas tree. Oh, so much to do between now and New Year’s Day, and so little time to do it. But before we get too far ahead of ourselves, let’s take time to stop and smell the pumpkins, because it’s still only the first week in October. There’ll be lots of time for holiday anxiety attacks. Let’s focus on “One Holiday At A Time,” shall we?
